My baby crawled around in the playpen as I worked 12-hour days, sanding the floor and removing wallpaper. Ha! It was beginning to be clear, but wasn't quite done. It would take a lot of money effort and my personal favorite brands to furnish this home. To keep my budget sound, I travelled with three of my boys to look for bargains in estate sales. Our weekly routine that included spending Friday through Saturday at estate and garage sales, shopping for new and used things. I then spent the remainder of the week working on painting and sanding the driveway. The furniture looked like this... and that's the place I discovered my love for restoration. I continued to work on furniture even after we had decorated our house. On the streets I set up a little space and sold some objects. Eventually, my collection grew enough that the area I had available was no longer adequate. My home became a place that I hosted open houses. Up 1000 people would be able to view items from the first floor, and then purchase the items. Growing Days is the result of this. Growing Days was not only an incredibly successful business, but as well my family. As a young mom, I found the right equilibrium to start my own business and also being a decent mother. Growing Days was the obvious choice. My precious Nora was born in 2013, our fourth child. Although I was happy with the direction that my business took, I felt like I needed to take a little break. I made the decision to take some breaks from my old furniture and be at home with my children. It was time. But after a couple of months off the phone started to call. Calls came in asking me for help with decorating their homes and interiors. A majority of them were people who walked into my house in my open houses for furniture. After a while, I took on clients at my pace. Before long I had numerous accounts as well as a home renovations company. Most likely, I would have laughed if someone had told me the business was going to be the premise of an upcoming TV show on DIY Network. Even now, when I reflect on the situation and think about it, I laugh.
